BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

Certificate Programs

Nature of the Occupation. Graduates with a two-year business management degree are normally employed in mid-level management positions or as an assistant manager. The tasks they perform vary from business to business but usually involve the supervision of other employees and insuring that the operating procedures of a given area within the business are conducted in an efficient and profitable, cost-effective manner. Managers work with their supervisor to formulate, modify and implement policies which direct the activities and operations of the company.

Working Conditions. Most managers work in comfortable offices located close to the area which they supervise, but some managers move about frequently, conducting business by the direct supervision of employees within a work environment. Gathering data and organizing information for reports and making recommendations to superiors based upon those reports is routine.
